Apollo 100
Apollo 100 was a short-lived British instrumental studio based group that had a moderate hit with the Johann Sebastian Bach-inspired single "Joy" in 1972. Arranger Tom Parker put together the band in 1972, with drummer Clem Cattini, guitarist Vic Flick, guitarist Zed Jenkins, percussionist Jim Lawless and bassist Brian Odgers. Their first single, "Joy", based on Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring", rose to number 6 on the pop singles chart in the US. None of their subsequent efforts was as successful, and they broke up in 1973.

During depressing 2021 I would improvise on the piano before bed. This carefree floating type piano idea came from that. I really liked the way it made me feel so I wrote it down in my staff notebook/journal. And then forgot about it. A little over a year later I was in a 10 week composing program sponsored by ESPN through Women's Audio Mission that gave us a brief for uplifting/triumphant music. I went back to my notebook to this idea and used it as the core of what is now a self-produced track with a hip hop beat, orchestral percussion, trumpets, strings, synths and of course the piano. Let me know - Does it slap? more
